While some like theirs with "lettuce and tomato, Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes, Big kosher pickle and a cold draught beer"; there are few things better than a chunk of ground beef shaped into patty form and cooked to perfection. So it’s a good thing there are so many places to grab a great burger in the Dayton area.

1. Voltzy’s Rootbeer Stand

A post shared by Adam Kerr (@ak32787) on

When: Monday - Saturday, 11:00am - 2:00pm; Closed Sundays
Where: 4668 Springboro Pike Moraine, OH | (937) 299-1440
Why: What Voltzy’s lacks in grandeur, it makes up in great-tasting sliders and character – plenty of it. Burgers are made to order, and there are about a dozen ways to order a burger. Starting with a basic $1.30 hamburger, up to the $4 Double Voltzy – a regular cheese burger on a buttered bun topped with ham, raw onion and sauce.

2. K’s Hamburger Shop

A post shared by George Motz (@motzburger) on

When: Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 9:00pm; Saturday, 6:00am - 7:00pm; Closed Sunday
Where: 117 E. Main St Troy, OH | (937) 339-3902
Why: Low frill, all-American burgers in a retro burger shop, with beef ground in-house. What more do you need? These burgers are cooked in a 'wet grill', or low pan filled with oil, the burgers at the 82 year old K's Hamburger Shop are obviously incredibly moist. And K's a great, comfortable, throwback burger counter where you can get a great cheeseburger for $2.70, or a juicy hamburger for $2.50!

3. Coco’s Bistro

A post shared by @foodiegrammm on

When: Monday - Thursday, 11:00am - 10:00pm; Friday, 11:00am - 11:00pm; Saturday, 5:00pm - 11:00pm, Closed Sunday
Where: 250 Warren St Dayton, OH | (937) 228-2626
Why: Start with the creamy Boursin cheese, thick Applewood smoked bacon and sweet caramelized onions and go from there. The Bistro Burger ($13.00 with a side) is always on the menu, even when it’s not listed.

4. Nick’s Restaurant

A post shared by Maria (@manderson0712) on

When: Monday - Saturday, 11:00am - 2:30am; Sunday, 12:00pm - 12:00am
Where: 1443 N. Detroit St Xenia, OH | (937) 372-3202
Why: The bar and eatery has been a staple of its community since it opened in 1949. The signature burger, the Big Nick ($8.49), is king of them all. It’s a half pound of juicy Angus beef with your choice of trimmings and the restaurant’s special sauce. It’s a mountain of meat, so come starving or come with friends to help you finish it.

5. Blind Bob’s

When: Monday - Sunday, 11:00am - 2:30am
Where: 430 E. Fifth St Dayton, OH | (937) 938-6405
Why: For a one-of-a-kind burger experience, you don't want to miss out on these stuffed burgers. Options include the Island Delight burger ($10) a half-pound patty, stuffed with sweet pineapple and zippy pepper-jack cheese, covered in a teriyaki glaze with a tangy wasabi-mayonnaise, the Italian Burger ($10) a half-pound patty, stuffed with provolone cheese and cooked basil and green peppers, topped with marinara and a mound of caramelized onions, and a fiesta burger ($10) stuffed with cheddar-jack cheese, corn and jalapeños, that’s topped with salsa and sour cream.

6. The Hamburger Wagon

A post shared by George Motz (@motzburger) on

When: Monday - Saturday, 10:30am - 6:00pm; Sunday, 11:00am - 6:00pm
Where: 12 E. Central Ave Miamisburg, OH | (937) 847-2442
Why: The Hamburger Wagon has served the Dayton area for 100 years and has been ranked as one of the top 150 Hamburger Joints in the U.S. by “Hamburger America”. These burgers are simple, crispy and delicious. No cheese on these burgers. Just pickle, onion, salt and pepper (Singles are $1.25, and doubles only $2.50). You might also spot the mobile wagon at area festivals and fairs.

7. Slyder’s Tavern

When: Monday - Saturday, 11:00am - 2:30am; Closed Sunday
Where: 836 Watervliet Ave Dayton, OH | (937) 258-1222
Why: Winner of the "2016 Best of Dayton" poll, the juicy meat is packed with flavor, and it was voted best burger in Dayton by the Ledbelly Boys. All burgers come in two sizes (7 oz & 10 oz), with a side of chips. (And all options are $7.15 or under!)

8. Fleming's Steakhouse

When: Monday - Thursday, 5:00pm - 10:00pm; Friday - Saturday, 5:00pm - 11:00pm; Sunday, 11:00am - 9:00pm
Where: 4432 Walnut St Beavercreek, OH | (937) 320-9548
Why: Known for their top-notch steaks, Fleming's does NOT disappoint with their burger. The Prime Burger is topped with Wisconsin cheddar cheese, peppered bacon; and served with a side of hot and crispy fries. For a great deal, try this burger during happy hour (5:00pm - 7:00pm) and its only $8.00!

9. Lock 27 Brewing

When: Monday - Tuesday 11:00am - 10:00pm; Wednesday - Thursday 11:00am - 11:00pm; Friday - Saturday 11:00am - 12:00am; Sunday 11:00am - 9:00pm
Where: 1035 S Main St Centerville OH 45459 & 329 E First St Dayton OH 45402
Why: Not only did Lock 27 make our “Best of” Beer list, they also have a killer burger, which in our opinion, is the perfect combination.  The Keener Burger is Black Angus beef, topped with sharp cheddar, and applewood smoked bacon ($15). All burgers are served with their house-made frites, and specialty dipping sauces to perfectly round out this meal.
